Identity Management
Manage user identities and access rights throughout their entire lifecycle
Manage user identities and access rights throughout their entire lifecycle
Modern identity management (IdM) and identity governance (IGA) ensure that the right people have the right access to the right systems at the right time. Centralized identity and access management automates the user lifecycle, streamlines administrative processes, reduces security risks, and supports compliance across the organization.
In a dynamic organization, resources and task responsibilities change frequently, making it laborious to keep identities and access rights up to date without an identity management solution. Artificial intelligence provides tools that can automate many work stages as well as administration and monitoring.
Identities are entities, such as people, devices, and software, that are granted access rights to an organization’s various information systems, data, or facilities. An identity is granted authorizations based on, for example, role, task, position, location, time, or momentary need. From a data security and privacy perspective, it is increasingly important that only known and trusted users have access to information, and only to the information they need.

An IdM/IGA solution (Identity Management, Identity Governance) ensures that
Cyberattacks often exploit stolen or poorly managed administrator privileges, which can be used to bypass security controls and gain access to critical systems. A PAM solution (Privileged Access Management) reduces this risk by monitoring both internal and external administrators and restricting the use of privileged access. The solution also supports the organization’s compliance and audit readiness.
External administrators, consultants, and service partners are not in the organization’s HR systems and are therefore not subject to normal identity management. Identity lifecycle and access rights management is facilitated by dedicated VPAM functionality (Vendor Privileged Access Management), where the responsibility for maintaining identities and access rights lies with the external party, which eases the organization’s administrative workload.

We are researching AI-powered automation of access rights management processes. Access rights management, or identity and access management, involves numerous processes that require manual work. These processes consume a lot of working time, delay the activation of user access rights, and can cause data security and privacy risks.
By leveraging artificial intelligence, it is possible to securely analyze, interpret, and execute identity lifecycle operations autonomously. The goal of the research project is to produce solutions that can significantly enhance various aspects of access rights management, such as provisioning, role optimization, anomaly detection, and replace manual processes so that the AI solutions created function as additional components in existing access rights management solutions.

The benefits of identity management (IdM/IGA) should be measured separately from the perspective of the end user, IT administration, and organizational administration/compliance functions.
From the users’ perspective:
From the IT administration perspective:
From the administration, data security, and compliance functions perspective:

An open source-based IdM/IGA solution offers a cost-effective, flexible, and vendor-independent way to manage identities and access rights. The solution can be developed according to the organization’s needs while maintaining transparency and high data security.
Key benefits of an open source solution include:
The solutions have been particularly popular with municipalities, cities, and educational institutions, but are also generally used by public administration and businesses.
